Firefox 3.6 released
The new version of Firefox 3.6.3 has been released and more than 100 millon downloads have been done as per review
There isn't a lot of new features in Firefox 3.6 that we could actually write a full review about. Basically it added some useful tools such as the Personas theme picker, and the browser showed off some new skills highly pertinent for web developers including client side filesystem APIs, cool FontFace abilities and CSS gradients
Mozilla issued a statement today that it will begin sending out upgrade notifications to the other 1 billion users who downloaded the open source browser. Using Firefox's built-in update notifier, you should be receiving a message soon.
While Firefox could possibly be the best open source software on the web today, its subtle updating protocol leaves much to be desired. Unlike the highly aggressive Google Chrome updater that runs in the background, Mozilla has gone down the Microsoft path by asking if you wish to upgrade. Not a good strategy when you look at the number of users still having Internet Explorer 5.5 when IE8 has been out for quite a while now.
